Museum of Magic (Paris)

Summary

Dive into an enchanting world of automatons, illusions and interactive shows in the heart of Le Marais.

Description

Established in 1993 in 16th‑century vaulted cellars in Le Marais, the Museum of Magic, founded by magician‑collector Georges Proust, invites you on a unique journey into the history of illusion. With over 100 animated automatons, restored posters, magical props, and grand illusions, visitors uncover the secrets and beauty of the magical arts. A 20‑minute close‑up or salon magic show is performed every 30 minutes and is included in the admission ticket.

The visit begins with live demonstrations by professional magicians, sharing historical anecdotes – from Robert‑Houdin to Méliès – and revealing illusion techniques. Interactive installations follow: funhouse mirrors, optical illusions and playful exhibits – popular with children aged 7 and up.

In addition to the permanent exhibition, magic workshops are offered on Wednesdays, Saturdays, Sundays and school holidays (zone C), for children aged 6 to teens, ranging from 1 h15 to 3 h, including learning tricks and a mini‑show. Birthday parties are also available for children aged 6+: visit, show, workshop and snack time in a dedicated room (€25/child).

The museum welcomes groups (schools, staff committees, corporate events) from 20 guests upwards, offering guided tours, a show, bespoke visits and group rates.
