Lafayette Anticipations – the corporate foundation of Galeries Lafayette – is an exceptional cultural institution opened in March 2018 in Paris’s Marais district. Located at 9 rue du Plâtre in a 19th‑century industrial warehouse, the space was transformed by Rem Koolhaas’s firm OMA into a “curatorial machine” able to reconfigure into 49 possible layouts via a four‑level mobile tower installed in the courtyard.

Spanning 2,200 sqm over seven floors, the building features 875 sqm of exhibition space and a dedicated production workshop in the basement and on level three, equipped with digital fabrication, metal and wood assembly, printing, serigraphy, and more. This setup allows in‑residence artists to fabricate site‑specific works, making Lafayette Anticipations a hybrid venue at once museum, studio and creative lab.

The public enjoys three to four annual exhibitions blending visual art, design, music and live performance. Seasonal events such as Closer Music (January) and Échelle Humaine (September) bring emerging voices and multidisciplinary programming to the forefront.

Admission is free for all exhibitions, workshops and guided visits, held Wednesday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. (with occasional late opening on Thursdays), closed Mondays and Tuesdays. Concert tickets cost around €10, while guided tours and family workshops are free with reservation.
With its bright, minimalist spaces, industrial ambiance and mobile architecture, Lafayette Anticipations offers an engaging, dynamic help‑on from architectural lovers to art devotees. The mediation team hosts immersive experiences like the “archi‑visit,” guiding visitors through hidden facets of the mobile structure and production labs normally.

Additionally, the site includes a boutique‑bookshop featuring artist editions, design objects and curated publications, and a café‑restaurant called Pluto, run by chef Thomas Coupeau, perfect for a post‑visit break.
