A refined gastronomic experience in Paris, blending gourmet food hall, tastings and stunning architecture.
Description
La Grande Épicerie de Paris began in 1923 as a modest food counter within Le Bon Marché and officially became an independent gourmet food hall in 1979. A major renovation from 2013 to 2014 restored its original glass dome and transformed it into a refined culinary destination. In November 2017, a second location opened at 80 rue de Passy in the 16th arrondissement, featuring a striking green façade of mint, rosemary and thyme, enhancing the vibrant design and identity.
Spread over approximately 2,800 sqm across four floors, it offers more than 30,000 product references. Its gourmet grocery section alone includes around 6,000 items such as 100 types of chips, 350 varieties of jams, 350 chocolate bars, 200 beers and 150 bottled water selections from around the world. Beneath the restored dome, visitors explore counters for fish, meat, bakery and pastries, along with tasting counters for luxury goods, world cuisine, tea‑coffee and Iberian delights.
The basement wine cellar stretches over 40 meters, featuring about 1,500 references including 100 whiskies and hundreds of exceptional wine labels, complemented by fine cheese and charcuterie selections. On the restaurant level, a 300 sqm dining area under the dome seats 116, with chef Beatriz Gonzalez combining French tradition and global spices in a décor that merges light and greenery.
The atmosphere seamlessly blends elegance with artisanal craftsmanship: from Mathilde Jonquière’s mosaic artwork, to oak vats holding large volumes of wine, to finely crafted copper and stone, all connected by sweeping open aisles and escalators. Each department acts as a living tableau: visible meat maturation, live preparation benches and a 4,000‑liter oak wine barrel in the cellar create a theatrical shopping experience.
It captivates a broad clientele of French food lovers, international guests, and gourmands in search of exclusive or artisanal products. It welcomes over 1.3 million up to 3 million visitors per year across both sites. Visitors can enjoy gourmet tasting counters, refined meals, or just browse an exceptional selection.

Fun fact: to commemorate its centenary in 2023, the store created a “centre‑anniversary loaf,” a one‑kilogram sourdough bread decorated with a lotus motif inspired by its mosaic heritage.
