A charming neighborhood bakery in Batignolles, offering artisan sourdough breads and pastries at wallet‑friendly prices.
Description
Located at 100 Rue Legendre in the Batignolles neighborhood (17th arrondissement), Éveil Bakery opened in 2023, founded by Jonathan (25‑year veteran baker trained at Étoile du Berger and Terroir d’Avenir) and Florence (marketing and sales specialist).
Jonathan’s vision centers on heritage flours and responsible sourcing. Embracing natural leaven and ancestral formulas, with intentionally modest margins to keep prices low: a traditional baguette is just €1, croissant €1.20, pain au chocolat €1.40, with pastries and flans also priced very competitively.
The ambiance is clean, warm and minimalist – wooden counters display aromatic breads, fruit‑topped tarts (apple streusel, pear‑almond, custard), signature pistachio or peanut‑chocolate viennoiseries made without added sugar, and freshly made biscuits (cookies, palmier, spritz). Most offerings are grab‑and‑go though you’ll find sandwiches and focaccia at lunch.
Ideal for locals, budget‑conscious food lovers, families, and anyone seeking responsibly sourced, flavorful bakery goods. The vanilla flan stands out—available in a crispy caramelized version or as a creamy slice, it’s light on sugar and irresistibly lush. The apple turnovers use house‑made organic compote with fresh fruit pieces, while the pain au chocolat features rich dark chocolate and perfect flaky pastry.
Opening hours: Monday to Friday 8 AM–8 PM, Saturday until 7:30 PM, closed Sunday. Payment by cash, card, and meal vouchers. No seating, no wifi, no restroom. Staff is bilingual and welcoming.
Altogether, Éveil is a modern take on artisan bakery: rooted in terroir, affordable, and rich in flavor—a Batignolles gem worth visiting, especially in the early morning for fresh batches
